Psi Upsilon Zeta Chapter
Psi Upsilon Zeta was organized by a group of nine phenomenal women who felt the importance of organizing a graduate chapter in the Hoover/Shelby County area. The purpose of organizing this chapter was to reach out to the community of Hoover through service, education, and cultural programs while exemplifying the ideals of Finer Womanhood.
On April 1, 2011, Jessica Duncan, Jamaica Dunigan, Desiree Greenwood, LaDara Lee, Lucretia Lockett, Vivian Marvray, Dorcas Pittman, Kai Smith, and Veronique Zimmerman-Brown founded the Psi Upsilon Zeta Chapter.
Currently, the chapter is home to forty-five driven women from various career and educational backgrounds. The chapter is also home to Past Alabama State Director, Soror Vivian D. Marvray, Diamond Life Member.
The Psi Upsilon Zeta Chapter sponsors the undergraduates at The University of Montevallo and is home to a very active Zeta Youth Affiliates group.

On behalf of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated – Psi Upsilon Zeta Chapter! We are elated
that you have taken the time to visit our website to learn more about our chapter. It is truly my honor
and privilege to serve as the Psi Upsilon Zeta Chapter President.
Since chartering on April 1, 2011, the Psi Upsilon Zeta Chapter has exemplified our sorority’s beloved
ideals of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood in Hoover/Shelby County, Alabama.
Members of our chapter have completed thousands of community service hours through our national
signature program Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excel). Our members have served the sorority at
all levels with a spirit of excellence.
Psi Upsilon Zeta Chapter’s diverse and dynamic members are untiring in efforts to promote positive
changes in the educational and economic stations of families by providing relevant and quality service
outreach within the community. We are especially proud of our 50+ year partnership with the March of
Dimes, encouraging prenatal healthy behaviors through the Stork's Nest Education and incentive
program, and through our annual support of March for Babies and Prematurity Awareness Month.
During our 12th year of service, the members of Psi Upsilon Zeta will continue to cultivate a spirit of
excellence. Our theme for this year, “Exuberating Excellence by Exceeding Expectations,” reflects our
commitment to impacting the community in which we live, as well as fostering the continued
development of our sisterhood.
